All inmates at oldest central prison vaccinated against COVID-19

KATHMANDU, August 25: All inmates at the central prison at Jagannath Dewal have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

KATHMANDU, August 25: All inmates at the central prison at Jagannath Dewal have been vaccinated against COVID-19. 



The prison houses a total of 3,215 prisoners, said Jailor Bed Nidhi Adhikari. New prisoners at the prison will be administered COVID-19 vaccines soon, he said.

Eight inmates at the prison died of the infection during the first wave of the infection, he said, adding, however, that there is no death record from the virus during the second wave. 


Sprawling on 42 ropanis of lands, the oldest prison was established in 1971 BS. A hospital has also been established inside the prison for treatment of prisoners.
