KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Senior leader of Dahal-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Jhala Nath Khanal has claimed all candidates belonging to Oli-led faction of the NCP including Oli himself will fare so badly in the next election that they will have their election security deposits seized.

Addressing the mass gathering organized by the Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP in the capital on Wednesday, Khanal said that the claim of Oli to secure two-thirds majority seats in the upcoming elections was nothing but a false claim. He said that the election will be held after two years and that the candidates belonging to the Oli faction of the NCP will see their deposit money seized.

The security deposit that each candidate submits to the Election Commission (EC) while filing their candidacy is seized if they fail to secure a minimum number of votes. Addressing a rally organized by his faction of the NCP last week in Durbarmarg in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Oli had claimed that his party would secure a two-third majority in the upcoming midterm elections.

“Mr K P Oli, we have already seen your strength. Now, you won’t get two-thirds majority seats. Your security deposit will be seized instead,” he said. “Election will now be held after two years. Deposit of your candidates in all 165 election constituencies will be seized.”
