On May 1, the Cabinet decided to appoint Dhiraj Pratap Singh as the IGP. AIG Pokharel had filed a petition at the Supreme Court saying that the Cabinet had appointed Singh as IGP breaching seniority.
The writ petition filed by AIG Pokharel was dismissed by the Supreme Court on July 15. With this, Pokharel’s dream of becoming IGP was shattered.
