Agreement promoting youth employment signed

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The Industry Ministry and National Youth Council have today signed an agreement in order to augment to the goal of poverty alleviation by creating employment and establishing employment-generating industries in the country. 


Joint-Secretary at the Industry Promotion Division, Pradeep Kumar Koirala, and Vice-Chairperson of National Youth Council, Madhav Prasad Dhungel, signed the agreement in the presence of Industry Minister Sunil Bahadur Thapa, State Minister Resham Bahadur Lama and Industry Secretary Yam Kumari Khatiwada. 


The agreement would help youths to participate in socio-economic transformation of the country by making poor and unemployed youths entrepreneurs through the medium of agriculture, forest, tourism and service oriented industries mobilizing local resources, it is learnt.

Interest-free loan would be provided to youths to buy required materials as well as technology necessary for youth entrepreneurship programme and development, and it would help make youths self-employed by utilizing local means and resources after the implementation of the programme. 


On the occasion, Industry Minister Thapa expressed the view that the agreement would make a great help for the implementation of youth target programmes of the government and direct contact between the people and ministry would be increased. 


Saying the country could not get prosperity without youth human resources, State Minister Lama said that a concrete outcome would be achieved after the agreement. 


According to the Ministry, skill development training and technology would be handed over to local-level through Council by selecting youth entrepreneurs to implement 'Ten youths, one enterprise at each ward of one constituency programme' as per Enterprise Development Programme Guideline-2073 BS after the agreement. 


The trend of overseas employment would be decreased within next 10 years by creating employment in the country from the implementation of the programme. 


Signing the agreement, Joint-Secretary Koirala said that the programme would help implement the federalism along with coordination and collaboration for establishment of industries at local-level, development of entrepreneurship, employment generation and poverty alleviation. 


Likewise, Council Vice-Chairperson Dhungel said that the agreement is good beginning to make the youths target programme result-oriented. 


The Ministry would impart capacity development trainings while the Council would run programme targeting youths in all districts through District Youths Committee. RSS
