After complaints, KU begins probe into MBBS entrance exam results

KATHMANDU, Oct 24: Kathmandu University (KU) is investigating into MBBS entrance exam after some students registered a complaint at the university expressing dissatisfaction over entrance results.

The university's medical wing, Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS) had conducted an entrance exam on September 21 in which 8,000 students had appeared. The university is planning to fix the seats for MBBS students after the Tihar festival.  

When 986 applied for re-totaling of their marks, the results of 288 students were found to be different.  Afterward, 186 students had applied for re-totaling of their marks.  

Half the total applicants had passed the entrance exam. The investigation team consists both internal and external experts from exam controllers section and other fields. The investigation team will submit its report to the Nepal Medical Council, Medical Education Commission and Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
