KATHMANDU, March 28: Nepal Police has deployed additional security personnel to control the ongoing tension in Tinkune, Kathmandu. As the royalist protest turned violent, the administration imposed a curfew and tightened security measures.
The curfew will remain in effect from 4:25 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday in Tinkune. The District Administration Office has prohibited movement, gatherings, processions, and protests in the following areas:
- Gaushala to the airport, including Gairigaun, Tinkune, and Koteshwor
- Koteshwor to Jadibuti Bridge

- Gaushala Chowk to Old Baneshwor and New Baneshwor Chowk
The administration immediately enforced security measures after vandalism, clashes, and arson erupted during the protest in Tinkune. Earlier, protesters led by Durga Prasai had damaged private properties.
As the situation worsened, officials at the Ministry of Home Affairs held an emergency meeting. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, the Home Secretary, security chiefs, and senior officials reviewed the curfew order and devised security strategies.
Kathmandu Valley Police has been authorized to open fire if necessary to control the situation.
The administration has vowed to strictly enforce the curfew order. With an increased deployment of security personnel, authorities have further strengthened security in Tinkune.
