KATHMANDU, Feb 14: An application has been filed at the Project Implementation Directorate of the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited demanding details of contractors and responsible government bodies involved in laying pipes of Melamchi Water Supply Project.
RTI activists Jagannath Lamichhane, Diyash Giri and Priyasa Maharjan have demanded the information from the concerned authorities stating that the delay in completing the projects has caused adverse effects on the health of health hazards to people residing in Kathmandu.
They have demanded to provide details of contractors assigned to lay pipes of projects and contracts signed with the government at the earliest.
In the applications, rights activists have claimed that 5 million people residing in Kathmandu are suffering due to dust caused by haphazard pipe laying works and air pollution kills more than 10000 people annually.
