RAUTAHAT, June 20: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has detained Ajay Kumar Srivastava, the acting Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Bahudarmai Municipality in Parsa district, on allegations of financial misconduct.
According to the CIAA, Srivastava is accused of bypassing legal procedures while approving projects, issuing purchase orders, and awarding contracts. He is also alleged to have violated official conduct, and brought disrepute to the institution through irregularities.
CIAA files case against eight people including CAO of Humla

Srivastava was apprehended on Friday from the Bypass area of Birgunj along with relevant documents. Following his arrest, additional security personnel were deployed from the District Police Office (DPO), Parsa. Chief of the DPO Superintendent of Police Gautam Mishra confirmed the deployment after receiving information about the CIAA’s operation.
Although the CIAA has yet to release an official statement, sources say Srivastava will be taken to Kathmandu for further legal proceedings after completing preliminary documentation.
