KATHMANDU, Feb 19: A pistol was “accidentally” fired at the Balambu Police Station in Kathmandu.
AIG Deepak Thapa said that the incident occurred at around 5 PM on Sunday when the pistol belonging to police station chief, Inspector Surendra Shrestha of the division was being handed over after his duty, resulting in one person being injured.
AIG Thapa mentioned that the inspector's own bodyguard was the victim of the accidental fire. “It appears the pistol went off accidentally when the inspector was completing his duty and handing over the pistol. The bodyguard sustained an injury to his leg," he said, adding that despite it being an accident, there seemed to be some carelessness involved.
