KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Sri Lanka U 19 defeated Nepal by 1 run in a nail-biting thriller in the ongoing ACC U19 Asia Cup on Thursday.
Chasing the 228 runs target set by the host country, Nepal managed to get only 226 runs on the board losing all wickets in 49.3 overs.
At the match held at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo, Dipendra Singh Airee top-scored for Nepal at 90 runs as Avinash Karn and Aadil Khan contributed 40 and 39 runs respectively.
Kamindu Mendis of Sri Lanka sent three Nepali batsmen back to the pavilion.
Earlier, Sri Lanka had set a 228-run target for Nepal in allotted 50 overs at the ACC U19 Asia Cup held at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo on Thursday.
Sent in to bat first after losing the toss, the host team made 227 runs losing 8 wickets in 50 overs.
Right-hand batsman Hasitha Boyagoda top-scored with 83 runs studded with 12 fours off 106 balls, Ashen Bandara made 48 runs including 5 fours off 47 balls while Krishan Sanjula contributed 28 runs including 2 fours off 47 balls.
For Nepal, Krishna Singh Airee took highest 3 wickets conceding 44 runs, Pawan Sarraf grabbed 2 wickets giving away 27 runs while Dipendrea Singh Airee claimed one wicket.
