ACC Premier Cup: Final match between Nepal and UAE to be held tomorrow

KATHMANDU, May 1: The ACC Premier Cup final match between Nepal and the UAE has been postponed till Tuesday due to rain.

After Nepal won the toss and chose to field first on Monday at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, the UAE, who batted first, scored 106 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 27.3 overs, and the match was stopped due to rain.

The postponed match will continue tomorrow from today’s position.

According to Binod Das, Cricket Manager of the Cricket Association Nepal (CAN), the UAE’s batting will start tomorrow from today's position i.e 106 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 27.3 overs.

He added, “Tomorrow’s match will also be shortened if it rains. If the match is not possible even after reducing the overs, it will be pushed to a super over.”

He said, “If the Super Over is not possible, then the champion will be decided on the basis of ranking. In such a situation, Nepal, which is undefeated, will be the champion of the tournament and will qualify for the Asia Cup.”

According to Cricket Manager Das, Nepal will compete in the Asia Cup in the group consisting of India and Pakistan.

Asif Khan top scored for the UAE with 46 runs on Monday. His wicket was taken by Nepal’s Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi who got him caught by Arif Sheikh as the eighth wicket. In no time, Lalit took the wicket of the UAE’s Zahoor Khan who was out for zero run. 

Sandeep Lamichhane took the seventh wicket for Nepal. He made the UAE's Ayan Khan caught out by Kushal Malla for 5 runs.

Before that, Gulsan Jha bowled the UAE’s Basil Hamid for 10 runs.

UAE openers Mohammad Wasim were dismissed for 11 runs and Aryan Lakra for 13 runs. Wasim was dismissed by Sompal Kami and Aryan by Karan KC.

Similarly, Britya Arivanda got out for eight runs and Ramij Shahjada got out for one run. Britya was dismissed by Karan and Ramij by Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi.

Sandeep Lamichhane dismissed Rohan Mustafa for two runs.

Lalit took three wickets for Nepal while Sandeep Lamichhane and Karan KC took two wickets each. Similarly, Sompal Kami and Gulsan Jha took one wicket each.

The winner of this match will qualify for the Asia Cup and will play against India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
