A worthwhile experience!

Twenty-seven years ago, bed no 210, a patient panicking in the labor room of Thapathali Hospital, a blissfully pleasant pain of delivering a baby, who happened to be me. I was a gem to my parents whose unquenched love for a child finally bloomed with a baby girl: dark skinned, weighing around 2.2 kg, with long hand and finger nails. The happiness knew no bound with the cries of the baby, people around offering blessings and wishing for good health and prosperous life of the baby. The baby was raised with the seed of discipline, calmness leading to a well behaved decent child who I am today.

The baby was brought up under fortunate conditions, with freedom of not doing anything. She was kept away from every tiny unhappiness, and was blanketed in an over-protective atmosphere. Yes, she was an eager bird with wings, but restrained to stroll out in the skies. The over-protectiveness followed her until her early twenties.

She got out of the nest; spread her injured wings with the belief and courage to excel ahead. Albeit being denied by her parents, she left her home after 25 years in order to seek a job in a remote Terai community. Scorching heat, peculiar language, strange faces, friends from several background, everything was new to her. Also, entering into household chores to someone, who barely got a glass of water to drink for herself, was a curse, a way with no way out.

The job was one of its kind as it demanded teaching pupils where almost more than half don’t understand her dialects. How hard you try, the efforts were simply insane practices. People around wanted a conversation, but she carried the dialogue with her amicable smile. Even her co-workers appreciated her grin.

At times, she just felt like quitting job, intolerable heat, absurd fights among people, stinky environment, different living culture, and getting back to the place where she belonged. On the other hand, love and happiness from unbounded people around held her back.

Time passed by as she turned to be a seeker rather being a teacher. She got the closest view over life, dimensions which were folded were revealed gradually. She had to face many verbal comments for her childish acts which she thought were boons, a blessing in disguise. The people she was surrounded by taught her the valuable aspects of life which remained devoid to her for several years.
Looking back now, she is more experiential in her learning as she learnt what her degree couldn’t teach her. Now, she handles things well, understands people better, possesses broader view, stands for her words, loves others more, and is diligently dutiful.

She is contented to her service and most importantly a new identity “Miss” has dignified her living. She wishes every injured bird gets a chance to fly high in the sky and become able to touch the zenith of success.
