SURKHET, Mar 9: A woman of Aathbis Municipality committed suicide jumping into Karnali River along with her four children. The woman is learnt to be a victim of domestic violence.

The woman has been identified as Sunita Baduwal, 35, of Aathbis Municipality-3.

According to Police, her children Kalpana, 15, Sarita, 12, Lalit, 19 and Rajani, 7, are suspected of jumping with their mother in the river.

Of the four children, dead bodies of Kalpana and Sarita were recovered from Karnali River on Monday.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested Man Singh who is husband of Sunita Baduwal.

According to Gyan Bahadur Rana, Incharge at Rakam Police Station, Sunita and her children were seen heading toward the river.

Deputy Mayor of the Municipality, Dipa Bohora said the incident is the result of domestic violence. “We have learnt that Rana beat his wife and children drinking alcohol on the incident day,” she said.
