KATHMANDU, March 10: Ruslan Broadway Show commenced on Wednesday, and this four-day show will go on till Saturday. The show starts with amazing projection on stage. The dim lights make it seem like someone is dancing on the surface of the moon. The bewitching projection on the stage catches audience’s attention and prepares them for what’s to come.

The story is set in a Tamang village hidden between green hills and snow covered mountains and an Armory factory based in another village in 1997. Each character in the story has their own tale to tell.

Young protagonist, Ruslan seems to have initiated war between the two villages due to his carelessness. The love triangle between Ruslan, his beloved Nima and Saru, the daughter of owner of the factory, makes the stage come alive with mixed emotions. Nima is hypnotized by Ruslan’s love and she starts dreaming of their life together but her fate is to be decided by Saru’s rage.

Saru, on the other hand, has to fight her own battles from being betrayed by her love to having to take on responsibility of looking after the factory. The dark scenes show real agony of the prisoners who have been kidnapped by owner of the factory. Their lives are full of turmoil far from what their lives used to be in their own village which was full of joy.

They can neither live nor kill themselves. But in the midst of all these torments, Nima gives them hope with her undying courage. Nima’s words of love not only fill the prisoners’ hearts with valor but also provide Nima with the fuel to live life.

She tries to escape her tormenters but this time luck is against her and she is dragged to the factory again by Saru who has committed crime against herself by loving the same man Ruslan. By this time, villagers are enraged by Nima’s kidnapping and attack the Armory factory and spend the night fighting. This is where the audience is swept off their feet with the appearance of a mythical spirit.

Spirit in its heavenly shape and enchanting beauty intervenes and stops the fight. Friendship is forged between those who were previously enemies and Nima and Ruslan finally get their happily ever after.

Inclusion of the harmony of saxophone brings the spectators close to envisioning a Broadway show performed in New York. The vibrant lights and music will not let you think of anything else besides the show for as long as it’s on. The performers have done their parts well in this one hour 15 minutes long show, showcasing real pain and conflict and also love and joy. This musical is guaranteed to leave you captivated.

The high and lows of the character in sync with the projection in the background takes spectators in an expedition to unexplored sea of sentiment. The show is mesmerizing to the eyes and a must watch for every Broadway enthusiast.
