Nepal witnesses highest single day spike of 3,439 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking tally to 94,253

The country’s COVID-19 death toll stands at 578 as the number of active cases surpasses 25,000-mark

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Nepal recorded the highest single day jump of 3,439 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours taking the country’s COVID-19 tally to 94,253.

The country also witnessed 15 new cases of death linked to COVID-19 on Wednesday. A total of  578 people have died of COVID-19 in Nepal as of Wednesday afternoon.

According to Dr Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), of the total 14,209 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests conducted in the past 24 hours across the country 3,439  turned out to be positive.

As many as 1,126 people, who had earlier tested positive for the virus, have recovered and returned home in the past 24 hours. As of Wednesday afternoon, 68,668 COVID-19 patients have recovered in Nepal.

There are currently 25,007 active cases across the country. They are undergoing treatment in various isolation centers and home isolations.
