Parliamentary hearing committee invites complaints against three ambassadors-designate

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Parliamentary hearing process of three ambassadors-designate to the United States of America, United Kingdom and South Africa has begun on Wednesday.

A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) of the House of Representatives held on Wednesday invited complaints against the ambassadors-designate Yubaraj Khatiwada, Lok Darshan Regmi and Dr Nirmal Bishwakarma within the next 10 days for the parliamentary hearings.

According to the PHC Chairman Laxman Lal Karna, complaints against those recommended as ambassadors have been invited as per the Clause 12 of the Parliamentary Committee’s Work Procedure 2075 BS. All those recommended as ambassadors need to testify themselves before the parliamentary committee.

While former finance minister Khatiwada has been recommended as ambassador of Nepal to the United States, former chief secretary Regmi has been named as Nepali envoy to the United Kingdom. Dr Bishwakarma has been recommended as Nepal’s ambassador to South Africa.
