Kathmandu Valley’s COVID-19 caseload nears 25,000-mark with 943 new cases in past 24 hours

Valley’s COVID-19 death toll hits 144

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: The Kathmandu Valley recorded 943 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the Valley’s COVID-19 tally to 24,903.

The Valley witnessed four new coronavirus-related deaths on Thursday. Two men (78 and 68 years old) from Kathmandu district and a man each from Bhaktapur (68 years) and Lalitpur (48 years) succumbed to COVID-19. So far, 144 people have died of COVID-19 in the Valley.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 817 new cases in Kathmandu, 58 in Bhaktapur and 68 in Lalitpur were detected in the past 24 hours.

A total of 1,911 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the country on Thursday. The new cases in the Kathmandu Valley alone account for 49.35 percent of the total cases.

The three districts in the Kathmandu Valley – Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur – are among the districts with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal.

In the past 24 hours, Kathmandu district recorded the highest number of new cases of COVID-19 followed by Kailali, Morang and Rupandehi.
