KATHMANDU, Sept 20: It’s been already five years since the Constitution of Nepal was promulgated on September 20, 2015. 

The long-held dream of Nepali people to have the constitution promulgated by their elected representatives came true nearly after seven decades. 

The constitution plays a vital role to fulfill people’s aspirations of sustainable peace, good governance, prosperity and development through a new political system. 

Most people assume that Nepal’s constitution is yet to be fully implemented as a number of laws and bylaws still await to be enacted, and a host of institutions that the constitution envisions are yet to get a full shape. They fear whether the statute will remain a mere sheet of paper without bringing much impact on their lives.

In this Republica vox pop, we ask people from different walks of life in Kathmandu about their views on the effectiveness of the constitution.
