326 new cases reported in past 24 hours
KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The Kathmandu Valley, which is also the federal capital of the country, reported as many as 8,254 cases of the novel coronavirus infection as 326 more people were diagnosed with this disease in the past 24 hours.
Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), shared that Kathmandu district in the Valley confirmed 293 new cases. Similarly, 20 more people in Lalitpur and 13 others in Bhaktapur were found to have contracted the virus in the last 24 hours.
All three districts in the Valley are among the 11 districts with more than 500 active cases. As of Monday afternoon, Kathmandu district tops the COVID-19 tally with 6,624 cases. Lalitpur reported 919 cases of COVID-19 infection while the total number of infected in Bhaktapur stands at 711. Of the total confirmed cases throughout the country, the Valley alone reported 17.47 percent.
The Valley also reported three more deaths in the past 24 hours. All three deceased hail from Kathmandu district, according to the daily updates compiled by the ministry.
