Two of a family die of COVID-19 in Dharan

DHARAN, Aug 30: Two COVID-19 patients have died in the course of treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.

A 74-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man breathed their last on Sunday morning, confirmed hospital spokesperson Dr Nidesh Sapkota. The woman is the aunt of the man and they hail from Dharan-17, Railway. According to Dr Sapkota, they died in an interval of 45 minutes.

With this, Dharan Submetropolitan City alone reported a total of five COVID-19 related deaths.

Both the deceased were admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening. They were diagnosed with COVID-19 on Saturday itself.

According to the family members, the lady had been suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure while the man from diabetes and liver complications. They had developed COVID-19 symptoms including cough, high fever and respiratory complications since the last week.

Ward 17Chairman Manoj Bhattarai said that swab samples of other people based on the contract tracing are being collected following the confirmation of COVID-19 in the deceased.
