Health Ministry records 885 new cases of coronavirus in past 24 hours, taking country's COVID-19 tally to 34,418

KATHMANDU, Aug 26: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has said that 885 persons tested positive for coronavirus across the country in the past 24 hours.

At a regular media briefing on Wednesday afternoon, Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the MoHP said that 885 new cases were detected through 13,253 PCR tests conducted at various labs across the country in the past 24 hours. Of the newly-infected, 586 are males and 299 are males.

"With fresh cases of coronavirus recorded in the past 24 hours, Nepal's COVID-19 tally has soared to 34, 418," Spokesperson Gautam said.

According to him, 385 COVID-19 patients were discharged after recovery across the country in the past 24 hours. "With this, the number of COVID-19 patients to be discharged after recovery has reached 19, 504," the spokesperson said.

There are currently 6,028 persons in home isolation and 8,711 are at various institutional isolation facilities across the country.

The Kathmandu Valley alone reported record daily jump of 301 coronavirus infections on Wednesday, according to Spokesperson Gautam.

With 11 people dying of coronavirus in various parts of the country in the past 24 hours, Nepal's coronavirus death count has reached 175, Gautam said. Of them, nine are males and two are females.
