Saptari police registers complaint against a man for raping a minor

SAPTARI, Aug 21: Saptari Police registered a complaint against Ram Sundar Sardar, 45, of Bathnaha in Mahdeva Rural Municipality-3 on Thursday for allegedly raping a minor girl. The 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by Sardar on Monday evening, just when the village had turned dark due to load-shedding.

Sardar allegedly took the girl under control by gagging her mouth with the help of a cloth and took her about 400 meters away from the place where they were watching television in a group. He then made her unconscious by constantly covering her mouth and nose with his hand and raped her.

According to the Area Police Office, Kanchanrup, Saptari, the complaint was registered against Sardar after a medical examination was performed on the victim and few other investigations were carried out following a statement given by the victim's mother.

"We carried out an investigation on the basis of the statement given by the victim's mother. The report shown by medical examination pointed to Sardar as the culprit," said an official from the Area Police Office. "The complaint has been registered accordingly," said the official.

"Right after the complaint was filed by the area police office, the District Police Office has been searching for the accused," said Tilak Bharti, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Saptari.

According to Bharati, who is also the information officer at the District Police Office, the victim underwent medical examination at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj on Tuesday and is admitted at the hospital following some medical complications.
