98 more test positive for COVID-19 in Parsa

BIRGUNJ, Aug 17: As many as 98 positive cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were confirmed in Parsa district on Monday.

The mayor of Pokhariya Municipality, five ward chairpersons of the same municipality and medical superintendent of the District Hospital, Parsa have also contracted the virus.

Of the 98 new cases confirmed, 33 were detected in Pokhariya Municipality, 15 in Jagannathpur Rural Municipality, six in Sakhuwa Parsauni Rural Municipality and 43 in Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Eight family members of Mayor Deep Nayayan Prasad Rauniyar have contracted the virus. Along with the medical superintendent, Dr Anil Yadav, three doctors and three health workers have tested positive.

More than 1,100 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the district in the past one month.
