Nepal’s COVID-19 cases surpass 22,900 with 380 fresh cases in the last 24 hours

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: As many as 380 new cases were recorded by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in Nepal on Sunday, taking the national COVID-19 tally to 22,972.

According to Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for MoHP, a total of 8,515 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests conducted in the past 24 hours detected these new cases across the nation. There are 511 active cases in Province 1, while the number stands at 3,075 in Province 2. Similarly, 1,132 active cases in Bagmati Province, 237 in Gandaki Province, 446 in Province 5, 169 in Karnali Province and 974 in Sudurpaschim Province have been reported.

As of Sunday afternoon, 6,544 active cases of COVID-19 are undergoing treatment at various isolation centers and 11,038 people are staying at various quarantine facilities.

Likewise, 40 COVID-19 patients have recovered successfully and returned home. So far 16,353 patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease. 

Also, the Health Ministy recorded two COVID-19 related deaths in Nepal in the last 24 hours. As of Sunday afternoon, 75 individuals have succumbed to this disease.
