KATHMANDU, May 29: In the period up to the end of February of the current Fiscal Year, about 95 percent of the population has access to electricity.

According to the economic survey report published by the Ministry of Finance on Sunday, only 5 percent of the people are without access to electricity until February of the current FY. By the end of the last FY, 94 percent of the population had access to electricity. According to the economic survey report, per capita consumption has increased from 325 kilowatt hours to 351 kilowatt hours during the period up to mid-February of the current year.


Compared to mid-June of 2023, the electricity generation increased by 21.7 percent to mid-February of the current year and reached 2666 megawatts. In the period till the end of June 2023, the total connected capacity was 2190. 2,449 megawatts of electricity have been generated from hydropower projects, 82 megawatts from alternative energy and 6 megawatts from sugar mills.
