67 amendment proposals registered on proposed Cooperatives Bill

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: A total 67 lawmakers have registered amendment proposal to the 13 different provisions in the proposed new Cooperatives Bill. 

The lawmakers registering the amendment proposals have argued that they have brought the amendment proposals especially to streamline the scope of the cooperatives in tune with the changed context and situation, and making the cooperative an instrument of raising the rural economy and the income of the impoverished population. 

The meeting of the Finance Committee under the Legislature-Parliament today concluded theoretical discussions on the proposed bill. The sponsors of the amendments put their views in the discussions today. 

There are more than 33 thousand co-operatives throughout the country at present. RSS
