NCP chairmen duo Oli and Dahal commit to materializing prosperity mission

KATHMANDU, May 16: Prime Minister and Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) KP Sharma Oli and executive chairman of the party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, have expressed commitment to ensure meaningful change in the country as per the people's aspirations and mandate to the party. 

Issuing a press statement on the occasion of the 27th Memorial Day of the then CPN (UML) general secretary and chief of the organization department of the party and the second anniversary of the party unification today, the chairmen said that the party was firmly determined to materializing the people’s aspiration for development and prosperity even irrespective of the adversity. The press statement further reads that despite the limitation and difficulties, the government has achieved notable success in various areas including the prosperity mission.  

The then UML general secretary Madan Bhandari and organization department chief Jeevraj Ashrit were killed in a mysterious jeep mishap at Dasdhunga of Chitwan district on 3rd Jestha 2050 BS and the then UML and Maoist Centre were unified on the same date two years back.  

The press release said that late leader Bhandari had propounded a new political doctrine in the communist movement, accepting the multiparty system. The doctrine known as ‘people’s multiparty democracy’ had brought a new wave in the history of communist movement across the globe, according to the statement..  

The doctrine is interpreted as a creative and progressive development and interpretation of Marxism.  Similarly, late Ashrit had contributed a lot in the reform and strengthening of the party organization adopting the principle of hard work and discipline.   

The fact and cause of the jeep accident is yet to be revealed and a large section of people are not ready to accept it as a normal road mishap till today, the press statement says.

''Today, a federal democratic republic has been established in the nation with the establishment of social justice, inclusion, proportional democratic system and secularism. The party is committed to constitutional supremacy, rule of law, guarantee of human rights and fundamental rights, principle of separation of powers, plurality-based liberal society, multi-party competition, periodic elections, operation of the government by people's elected representatives, constitutional provision of oppositions, independent judiciary and worldwide norms and values of modern society,'' the statement further reads. 

The party went on to say that since the unification between two parties, it completed the party's organisational integrations basically and the preparations to hold the Unity Convention had got affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It further underlined the need for putting the party's entire strength in meeting the national agenda by completing the remaining works of unification.
