KATHMANDU, April 15: Tests for COVID-19 via rapid diagnostic test (RDT) have begun at Sun City Apartment in Pepsicola from Wednesday.
A day after two UK returnees residing at the A block of the apartment tested positive for this deadly virus, all the people living there are currently being tested on the suspicion of local transmission.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Health Ministry confirmed that two of three of the same family tested positive for COVID-19 at Teku based National Public Health Laboratory. The ministry said that a 58-year-old male and 81-year-old female tested positive for this deadly virus during the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Another patient, however, tested negative in the PCR test.
243 members of 90 families are being tested via RDT method after one of the three members of the family were found to have participated in an election of the Apartment Welfare Society earlier this month.
A total of 1500 people reside in all five blocks of the apartment.
