ROLPA, April 11: Targeting the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) examinees, some youths of Rolpa have initiated a distance learning program.

At a time when lockdown period is being extended by the government to curb the spread of deadly COVID-19, these youths have ventured into transmitting and publishing the distance learning packages prepared with the help from subject experts and teachers.

“The course packages are ready and we are soon airing them via local radio stations and YouTube also,” one of the members of Satpryas Media Group, the initiating organization Kul Bahadur Dangi told Republica Online.

The media group is now launching classes for English, Mathematics and Science subjects. The 15-day package for each subject has been prepared by Lekhmani Khadka (Science), Krishna Dangi (English) and Om Khatri (Maths). These teachers have made their voluntary contribution to the initiation.

The lessons will be broadcast through seven FM radio stations of the district as well as via YouTube.

With this, students from one of the remote districts in western Nepal, Rolpa and their parents are excited to join this learning platform. Many people from the district have hailed the initiation made by the media group at a time of uncertainty and exam pressure among the students due to prolonged lockdown period.

Amid coronavirus outbreak fears, the SEE examination was put off until further notice on March 18, a day before the examination.
