KATHMANDU, April 6: A Nepali couple living in Bangalore, the capital of India's southern Karnataka state has been tested positive for coronavirus.

The Nepali Embassy in New Delhi said that the couple was infected by the deadly virus recently. "The wife has been recovered while the husband is undergoing treatment," spokesperson at the embassy Hari Prasad Odari told Republica Online by phone.

With this, the number of Nepalis being infected by coronavirus in India has climbed to three. Earlier, a Nepali man who attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation from March 1-15 in New Delhi was tested positive for coronavirus. The man has been undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital Ambala in Haryana, the embassy spokesperson added.

India hosts large number of Nepali migrant workers. Many are said to be affected by coronavirus amid 21-day lockdown in the southern neighbor.

However, very few coronavirus infected Nepali nationals have approached the Nepali embassy in India. On Friday, two Nepali men who returned from India's Mumbai and Uttarakhand had tested positive for coronavirus in Nepal. The patients are 21-year-old male of Kailali who returned from Mumbai in India and 41-year-old male of Kanchanpur who returned from the Indian state of Uttarakhand bordering Nepal.
