KATHMANDU, April 5: Actions against 1,807 people including 452 women were taken for violating lockdown in Kathmandu Valley on Sunday, according to the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari.

Similarly, 249 vehicles including 240 two-wheelers and nine four-wheelers were taken under control on Sunday itself. A total of 1,386 people from Kathmandu, 224 from Lalitpur and 178 from Bhaktapur faced actions.

The government has imposed a lockdown across the nation from March 24 to prevent possible coronavirus spread in the country. Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police Bishworaj Pokharel said that lessons related to coronavirus would be imparted to those violating lockdown order for three hours before their release.

Meanwhile, Kritipur Municipality has set up a relief fund of Rs 5 million to provide relief to those facing problem due to lockdown imposed by the government. The municipality has appealed to the NGO, INGO, non-resident Nepalis, national and foreign donors, industrialists, and civil society for the support in the fund.

The support money can be deposited in the account no. 1700304038303 of Rastriya Banijya Bank, Kritipur Branch, the municipality said.
