KATHMANDU, Nov 15: Police have arrested a pickpocket while he was lining up to cash a stolen check.

Keshav Fulara of Tinkune was heading toward Kupondole from New Baneshwar in a public vehicle. The bus was jam-packed. His check was stolen. Fulara knew about it only when he got off the bus fumbled his pocket to pay the bus fare.

He was carrying a check of Rs 255, 555, a 500-rupee note along with other important documents.

I was worried about the stolen check.

Fulara reported about it to the Metropolitan Police Sector, Lalitpur. The police asked him for details of the stolen check.

Fulara provided all the details – his name, amount and the name of the Bank of the check to the police.

“We coordinated with concerned bank and deployed a team of police accordingly,” said SSP Pitambar Adhikari, chief of Metropolitan Police Sector, Lalitpur.

“We managed to arrest him within three hours while was lining up to cash the stolen check,” said Adhikari.

Adhikari said police arrested Bishnu Roka and his younger brother Sanjiv Roka while they were queuing up at Nabil Bank, Kupondole Branch Office, to cash the check.

Other pickpockets land in police net through the connection with Roka brothers

On the same day, a Chinese national reported to the Metropolitan Police Sector, Lalitpur, about the theft of his mobile phone set.

Kynagsak Sin reported to the police saying that his mobile phone was stolen from Thasikhel.

Police inquired the Roka brothers whether they had networking with any other pickpockets. It was revealed that they were in a coordinated network with pockets.

It came to the fore that those named by Roka brothers had stolen the mobile of a Chinese national.

Police found the Chinese national’s stolen Samsung mobile with Dhan Raj Rumba and Santosh Basyal.
