KATHMANDU, Nov 14: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), that has been piling pressure on the government to table the constitution amendment proposal in the Parliament at the earliest possible, on Monday urged Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal not to register the proposal right away.
In the meeting with Prime Minister Dahal held at Singha Durbar today, the UDMF leaders asked the former to submit the proposal only by the end of Novermber.
The UDMF leaders had been warning of a strong agitation if the government did not submit the amendment proposal by November 15.
As soon as the meeting with the UDMF leaders began, Dahal said that the government was preparing to submit the proposal by Tuesday (tomorrow).
Saying that the ruling alliance leaders have not held any discussion with them regarding the amendment proposal, the UDMF leaders urge the PM to register the amendment proposal only after discussing with them. For that, they have set the deadline to be 30th of November.
“So far, it’s the government which has been fixing all the deadlines,” President of Sadhbhawana Party Rajendra Mahato told Republica Online, “This time, we have formally given a 15-day ultimatum to the PM. If the amendment proposal is not registered in parliament within this 15-day period, then there will be no alternative to agitation.”
