On December 25, Chinese national Li Hansong who arrived in Kathmandu from Fly Dubai flight absconded with approximately nine kilograms of gold concealed within electronic cigarettes. The source claims even though approximately two kilograms of the stolen gold were found in Wang's possession, the remaining six kilograms were reportedly sold by Wang to two individuals from Sindhupalchowk.

The police are investigating this matter. "We’ve received a tip-off that two people from Sindhupalchowk have taken gold. We are also investigating the role of those people and the Sindhupalchok police," said a high ranking police source.

Currently, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police is investigating the case and has taken Rahul Mahara, a suspect linked to the case, into custody. During the course of the police investigation, it was uncovered that the Mahara father and son had frequent telephone conversations with Wang, who is believed to be the leader of the Chinese gang engaged in gold smuggling.
