8th Falgunanda Gold Cup to take place from December 23

PANCHTHAR, Nov 17: The 8th Falgunanda Gold Cup is taking place in the district from December 23 to January 1. 

The tournament is being organised every year in the district in memory of Mahaguru Falgunanda, also known as Falgunanda Lingden (1885-1949), a religious leader of the Kirati people. 

The total 10 teams from Kathmandu, Sunsari, Morang, Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung and as far as Bhutan and Indian cities like Sikkim and Darjeeling will participate, said Pasang Tamang, general secretary of the Phidim Sporting Club. 

The winner will receive Rs 250,000 in cash, a trophy and a certificate while the first runner up will be handed out Rs 150,000 in cash, a trophy and a certificate, said the club chairman Kiran Shrestha. 

The tournament costs approximately Rs 2.8 million with the District Development Committee, Phidim Municipality, Chaudhary Group and companies manufacturing Ruslan Vodka and Gionee mobile phone supporting the game as donors, he added. RSS
