KATHMANDU, March 22: Alfresco Media and Event Management Pvt Ltd has organized an art exhibition and competition named ‘Alfresco Open Art Exhibition Cum Competition 2018’ at the premises of Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal. The seven-day-long exhibition features over 1000 paintings made by pre-primary level, primary level, lower secondary level, secondary level and college level students along with paintings of senior artists and guest artist. The exhibition also features the artwork by the children of BIA foundation and SOS. The artwork featured in this exhibition belongs to different themes including culture, tradition, natural disaster, lifestyle, and so on.
The exhibition was inaugurated jointly by Chief Guest of the program Jay Ram Lamichhane, past president of Federation of Contractors' Associations of Nepal (FCAN) and senior guest of the program Laxmi Das Manandhar, president of Salt Trading Corporation (STC) on Monday. Similarly, Manoj Gyawali, acting CEO of Jyoti Bikash Bank, was also present in the inauguration as special guest. The inaugural event was followed by winner announcement, prize distribution and performance art of artist, Sundar Lama and his group. The participants were jugged in terms of creativity and color harmony by the judges.

President of the exhibition and CEO of Alfresco Media and Event Management Pvt Ltd, Shyam Krishna Shrestha said, “The main motto of this exhibition is to promote the work of young artist and heal the generation gap by featuring art of different generation in a same exhibition.” He added, “Due to the involvement of artist from different age group, people also call it three generation art exhibition.” Apart from the paintings exhibition is also showcasing three sculptures made by two artists Madan Mohan Shrestha and Sundar Lama.
As many as 800 students from 90 different educational institutions have participated in the exhibition that is slated to continue till March 25.
