Russian karate team begins week-long Nepal tour

KATHMANDU, March 4: The Russian karate team consisting of world and European champions kicked-off its Nepal tour to promote the sport and strengthen the relationship between the two countries on Tuesday. The tour will last a week until March 9.

The world champion title holders from Russia will share their invaluable experiences with Nepal Karate Federation and local karate players to establish a strong relationship between the two nations.

The team has already conducted a joint training at the National Karate Federation and Nepal Police Academy. The Russian team is scheduled to visit Pokhara on March 4 for a training program.

The karate team includes the president of National Karate Federation to Fudokan-Shotokan Russia, Savransky Vasily, who has won five titles in Europe and seven in the world series. Similarly, Rakhinsky Vladimir, who was crowned world champion in 2015 and 2019, is also a member of the team. He also held European championship title in 2018. Likewise, Mkoyan Yuriwho won the silver medal in World Championship in 2015 and a silver medal in Europe Championship in 2016.

 Nepal Karate Federation president, Purendra Bikram Lakhey also attended the program.
