BHIMDATTANAGAR, Feb 25: Nepalis entering India via the Gaddachauuki transit on the Nepal-India westernmost border in Kanchanpur district are required to wear masks as per the edict of the Indian border security personnel.

The Indian side has been urging the people entering India through Gaddachauki to mandatorily wear masks as a preventive measure against Covid-19. The Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB), the border security force of India has made it mandatory for people entering and leaving India to wear masks, the Area Police Office Gaddachauki said.

The Indian side has also mobilized a medical team with the doctor at the border. "It is learned the medical team also screens the people if they suspect coronavirus infection," Chief of the Area Police Office Gaddachauki, Narendra Chand, said.

According to him, India has taken stringent measures including the mandatory wearing of masks for people crossing the border for a week for preventing the spread of coronavirus. The local vendors have said the sale of masks has surged from Gaddachauki to SSB Camp after the enforcement of this requirement.

The Indian security personnel at the border have also tightened checking on Nepali vehicles over the last few days.
