KATHMANDU, Feb 11: The Parliament meeting resumed on Tuesday after the main opposition party Nepali Congress withdrew its ongoing protest.

The parliament session is currently underway at Federal Parliament building, New Baneswor. Lawmakers from various political parties are speaking on the contemporary political issues of public concern.

A meeting of the NC's party parliamentary today morning had decided not to halt the proceedings of House of Representatives (HoR). The NC had obstructed three consecutive meetings of the HoR opposing the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)'s move to implicate its influential leader Bijaya Kumar Gachchadar in Lalita Niwas land scam.

However, the NC said it would continue nation-wide protests against the ‘politically motivated’ decision of the anti-graft body to charge one of its influential leaders in the corruption case.

The NC has been accusing the CIAA of filing corruption case against its vice president Gachchhadar while exonerating some ruling party leaders who were implicated by a probe committee formed by the government to investigate into the land scam.
