KATHMANDU, Feb 3: The government of Nepal is currently working to repatriate nearly 200 Nepali nationals including students from China's Wuhan city, the epicenter of coronavirus epidemic.

However, no Nepali students in Wuhan are infected with the novel virus even as the entire city is in lockdown and mobility of people is heavily restricted.

As many as 80 Nepali students are preparing to come back home from various parts of China as of Monday, according to Nepal Embassy in Beijing. At least 59 Nepali students are returning home from Wuhan city alone, according to the embassy.

On Saturday, the embassy urged the Nepali nationals in Wuhan to fill up the travel form if they wanted to go back home.

Despite rigorous efforts of the Chinese authorities, the novel virus has not been controlled yet.

China on Saturday said it was doing every effort to ensure the medical care of foreign citizens including Nepali nationals in coronavirus-hit Wuhan.

Issuing a press release on Saturday, Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu stated that coronavirus epidemic is preventable, controllable and manageable.

"We are determined, confident and capable of winning this epidemic prevention and control fight. The Chinese government will perform its international obligations in a highly responsible manner, make every effort to ensure the health of foreign citizens in China, and address the legitimate concerns of all parties," the embassy said.

It also informed that that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has set up emergency response mechanism to coordinate and handle foreign affairs related to epidemic prevention.

"It is understood that some Nepali citizens, including students, are still in Wuhan and their lives and medical care are guaranteed. Please rest assured that China will continue to take proactive measures to protect their legitimate rights and interests," read the press release.
