BPKIHS sends corona virus suspected patient to Kathmandu for further test

DHARAN, Jan 31: A patient admitted in the BPKIHS in Dharan and suspected to have been infected with corona virus has been sent to the National Epidemiology and Disease Control at Teku, Kathmandu, for further examination.

The patient was admitted to the emergency room of the Dharan based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences on Thursday after he complained of high fever and sore throat for three consecutive days.

A resident of Dharan-11, the patient had arrived from South Korea five days ago.

He was sent to Kathmandu Thursday evening itself after his consent, informed Chief of the Emergency Ward at BPKIHS, Dr Gyanendra Malla.

Dr Malla shared he had 103 degree of fever for 3 days, adding that he was sent to Kathmandu in consultation with the Department of Medicine and experts of the Hospital.

BPKIHS does not have necessary kit and equipment to conduct test on the corona virus.

The Hospital on Thursday formed a 12-member Rapid Response Team coordinated by the Director of the Hospital.
