Pashupatinath a center of reverence for both Indian and Nepali devotees: Mukherjee

KATHMANDU, Nov 3: Indian President Pranab Mukherjee has made announcements to renovate and reconstruct the crematorium based on the premises of Pashupatinath Temple on Thursday.

Writing a message in the visitors’ book, Mukherjee made such announcements in green ink.

 “This temple is the center for both Indian and Nepali devotees,” Mukherjee further wrote in the message.

Mukherjee vows Aryaghat renovation

In the message, Mukherjee has announced renovation of the crematorium  based on the premises of Pashupatinath Temple.

“It is a great pleasure to announce the reconstruction and renovation of the crematorium of Pashupatinath Temple during my state visit to Nepal,” he wrote in the message.

In the message, he has said that India is happy to know that the project on the Nepal-India Maitri Dharmashala is being carried out.

“I would like to wish success for the endeavor that Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) is making toward the maintenance and conservation of the temple,” he wrote in the visitors’ book.

“I am glad to be here at holy Pashupatinath Temple once again,” he wrote.

Special pooja for one hour

Mukherjee, who reached Pashupatinath Temple at 10 am, took almost one hour to conduct the special pooja.

He offered pooja to all the gods and goddesses including Ganesh, Surya, Narayan, Bhairab and Basuki situated on the premises of Pashupatinath Temple.

On the occasion, Mukherjee visited Sankatmochan Hanuman as well as Nawagraha. He also paid homage to Mahadeva by lightning lakh batti (100,000 wicks).

Men and women including girls of Gurukula and Batuk (Hindu boys) welcomed Mukherjee by chanting Swatik mantras when he entered through the eastern gate of Pashupatinath Temple.

Mukherjee wrote the aforementioned messages in the visitors’ book in green ink after completing the pooja.
