KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Tribhuvan International Airport, the country's only international airport has remained closed since today afternoon resulting in the disruption of several international and domestic flights owing to poor weather.

On Twitter, Yeti Airlines said "Dear patrons, due to the bad weather condition our flight schedules have been disrupted. Please contact our airport office 4493901 or 4493428 for further updates on our flight schedules. Thank you."

Another private airline Buddha Air also said that its flights have been affected due to bad weather. "Dear passengers, due to the bad weather condition, our flight schedules have been disrupted. Please check the flight status in our mobile app or call at 01-5542494 for further updates."

According to general manager of the airport, Debendra KC, flights have been affected due to low visibility since today morning. Domestic flights to high mountainous and hilly areas where snowfall has occurred in particular have been affected, he said.

A total of 28 air service providers have been operating flights from the airport. The weather will witness changes and there are possibilities of light rain and snowfall especially in mountainous and hilly areas for the next three days due to the influence of the westerly low-pressure system, said the Meteorological Forecasting Division, adding that Kathmandu today recorded minimum 5 degrees Celsius temperature and maximum 18 degrees.
