Phoksundo Lake is a major tourist destination in Dolpa district. The majestic lake is located inside Shey Phoksundo National Park in western Nepal and is situated at an altitude of 11,800 feet from the sea level.

Dolpa can be reached through Kathmandu-Nepalgunj-Jufal air travel. Trekking begins after travelling some 10 kilometers from Jufal Airport.

Suligad—the confluence of Bheri and Phoksundo rivers can be reached from the trekking starting point in six hours. Generally, trekkers take shelters at Sangata of Chespa on the first day. There are good lodges operated by the locals.

Trek of the second day begins with sunrise. Trekking through a narrow path feels dangerous. Trekking for 10 hours takes you to Hotel Jharana where you stay for the second night.

Some five hours trek from the hotel on the next day takes you to the lake with an area of 1,373 square feet. One can spot many monasteries nearby the lake.
