BHAIRAHAWA, Dec 21: Despite its identity as an industrial region in the recent days, the supply of power in Bhairahawa-Butwal area is still insufficient, forcing the industries to install their own plants for power generation.

Arghakhanchi Cement Industry that produces as high as 3,000 metric tons of cement everyday is running the industry by generating power from its own plant. Shree Steel and other industries too are running by producing energy on their own due to delay in expansion of substation and transmission line from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

It is said that Arghakhanchi Cement Industry is receiving a total of 10-megawatt electricity from the NEA, which is half of the industry's total demand.

The proprietor of Arghakhanchi Cement Industry and former president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Pashupati Murarka said that the industry would run with its full capacity in the coming days after receiving sufficient power from the NEA. He also said that plans are afoot to expand the capacity of the industry. Likewise, Shree Steels is also producing six-megawatt power by the use of furnace oil, as the NEA failed to supply the required energy for the industry's full operation.
