8 meteorologists contract COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Eight meteorologists of the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology are confirmed to have been infected with COVID-19.
Eight out of 11 staffers of the MFD, which has an office at the Tribhuvan International Airport, have been infected and are working from home staying isolated.
Most meteorologists have reported that office phones have been diverted to their mobile phones after they were infected. Any queries regarding the weather are answered from home.
Informing the aviation office about the weather every half an hour is a regular job of the meteorologists, besides reporting the weather for international flights every six hours.
