Nepal-B'desh joint-secretary level meeting on bilateral trade kicks off

The fourth meeting of Nepal-Bangladesh Technical Committee for promotion of trade between two countries has begun in the capital on Tuesday. 

The meeting will hold extensive discussions on the exploration of the prospect of trade between the two countries. According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, the main priority of the discussion will be regional aviation, energy, waterways, the export of agricultural products, food security, woollen products and commodities produced in both the countries. 

President Bhandari invites Indian counterpart to visit Nepal

President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who is currently visiting Japan to attend the enthronement proclamation ceremony of Japanese Emperor Naruhito, held a meeting with her Indian counterpart Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday morning.

According to officials, the Indian president accepted the invitation extended by his Nepali counterpart for Nepal visit. Both the sides agreed to finalize the dates of the visit through diplomatic channels. 

Eight injured in bulldozer attack in Baitadi

Eight people were injured, two of them seriously, when the bulldozer driver attacked them with the bucket of the vehicle in course of a dispute regarding the construction of the road. 

Gaura Joshi and Suresh Prasad Joshi have sustained serious injuries due to the assault. The incident happened at Gwallek of Dasharath Chand municipality-9 when a dispute broke out over the construction of a bumpy road. In a fit of rage, the bulldozer driver hit some people with the 'bucket' of the bulldozer. 

Police arrest NCP leader Lohani 

Police have arrested Gunaraj Lohani, a leader of Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand.

He was detained from Chitwan on Tuesday morning, according to police sources. On Monday, a central committee meeting of the outlawed Chand-led outfit had suspended Lohani from the post of the central committee member citing his health issues.

Canada's Trudeau retains power in election but will have minority government

India beat South Africa by an innings and 202 runs in the third and final test to complete a 3-0 series sweep in Ranchi on Tuesday.

Debutant spinner Shahbaz Nadeem claimed the last two South African wickets in successive deliveries as the visitors, asked to follow on after conceding a 335-run first innings lead, were all out for 133 in their second innings, bringing the match to an early end on the fourth day.
