We all want luscious, silky hair but the sun, pollution, and harsh tap water often wreck havoc and make our manes rough and dry. Here’s what you can do to reverse the damage.
Massage your scalp every day even if you aren’t oiling it
Experts agree that regular scalp massage is a must as tension in the scalp can cause hair to grow slower and become weaker and fragile. What you can do is take a few minutes every day to massage your scalp in a circular motion to stimulate circulation. And once a week incorporate coconut oil in this ritual as it’s a natural emollient. It fills in the gaps in heat damaged hair strands as coconut oil is good at penetrating hair fibers.
Apply an avocado mask ... it works wonders
Mash a ripe avocado with one egg and then apply this to wet hair. Avocados are rich in vitamins, essential fatty acids, and minerals that will help restore luster to your dry hair. Leave it on for at least 20 minutes, then rinse well. Repeat once a week if your hair is damaged and then once a month when you have healthy hair to maintain it.
Condition your hair with olive oil to make it shine
You can create a homemade hot oil treatment with olive oil. Warm-up half a cup of olive oil and then massage it into your hair. Cover your hair with a plastic bag, then wrap it up with a towel. Let this do its thing for 45 minutes, then shampoo and completely rinse. You will find your hair is a lot softer starting from the first treatment itself.
Take cold showers…you will get used to it
Have you ever considered that the hot water that you use while showering might be scalding your hair? Cold showers actually have many health benefits and it also makes your hair grow faster. After you shampoo and condition your hair in the shower, rinse your hair under a cooler temperature of water for a minute or two to revitalize the strands and refresh your scalp.
