President Bhandari leaving for Myanmar visit on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: President Bidya Devi Bhandari is paying a state visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar from October 16 to 20 at the friendly invitation of the President of Myanmar U Win Myint, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

During the visit, President Bhandari will hold bilateral talks with her counterpart.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of Myanmar, will call on Bhandari. President of Myanmar is scheduled to host a state banquet in honor of the Nepali delegation led by Bhandari.

During her stay in Myanmar, President Bhandari will meet the citizens of Myanmar of Nepali origin in Pyin Oo Lyin. She will visit Bagan, a UNESCO world heritage site.

President Bhandari will also visit Yangon. While in Yangon, she will visit places of historical and cultural importance.

The members in the delegation of the include Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Secretary at the Office of the President and other high-ranking officials from the Office of the President and Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as media persons.
