KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Rastriya Janamorcha (RJ) has said that it will vote for the impeachment motion registered in the Parliament against suspended CIAA chief Lokman Singh Karki.
“We will vote for the impeachment motion registered against Karki as we had disagreed with the very appointment of Karki as CIAA chief,” the RJ said in a statement issued today.
There are three lawmakers from the RJ in the Parliament.
As many as 157 lawmakers (107 from CPN-UML and 50 from CPN (Maoist Center) registered an impeachment motion against Karki at the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday evening.
With the impeachment motion registered in the Parliament, Karki has been suspended from his post in line with the Article 101 (6) of the Constitution.
If the motion is passed by the two-thirds majority of the total number of the members of the House of Representatives, Karki shall be relieved of his post.
However, the ruling Nepali Congress, the largest party represented in the Parliament, has not come up yet with an official decision on the impeachment issue.
